Jack Whitaker was an American sportscaster and producer.

A graduate of St. Joseph's University and a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he fought in the Normandy D-Day Campaign before embarking on a career in network sports.

He began at CBS in 1961, providing play-by-by for the Philadelphia Eagles before becoming the in-studio host for NFL Today as well as the announcer for the early years of the Super Bowl.

Perhaps best remembered for his coverage of golf and horse racing, Whitaker was also a part of the reporting teams for the 1984 & 1988 Winter and Summer Olympic Games as well as World News Tonight, Nightline, and 20/20.

Whitaker was the recipient of three Emmy Awards, one for Outstanding Host or Commentator (1979), for writing in 1990, and he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

Whitaker died August 18th, 2019, in Devon, Pennsylvania. He was 95.
