What do I do with my DVD screeners after Emmy season?
Here are three options for disposing of DVD screeners:
- If you have access to an LA City recycling bin (at home or work) you may recycle DVDs that way. DVDs and CDs are polycarbonate plastic, which typically falls into the "7" category of plastics. Other municipal systems that accept 1-7 plastics should accept DVDs (and CDs for that matter) for recycling, but you may want to call first to confirm.
- If your recycling system does not accept #7 plastic, consider CD Recycling Center of America. They offer several efficient options for recycling DVDs, CDs, and related packaging.
- We support Project Hollywood Cares, which delivers screeners and entertainment to our active US military personnel. Collections take place at the CBS Radford lot - not at the Television Academy headquarters. Donation procedure information can be found on their site at projecthollywoodcares.org.
- The Television Academy is still happy to take in and recycle your screeners, if you prefer. They will need to be delivered to us during office hours, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Please DO NOT bring your screeners to Television Academy events or Film Group screenings.
