Elsa Martinelli was an Italian model turned actress best known for her role opposite Kirk Douglas in The Indian Fighter. Douglas spotted her on the cover of Life magazine and recruited her to play a Sioux chief’s daughter in the 1955 film.

Martinelli also appeared in the films Blood and Roses, Hatari!, Orson Welles’ The Trial, The 10th Victim, Woman Times Seven and Mario Monicelli’s Donatella, which won Martinelli the award for best actress at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Additionally, she had roles on the series The Rogues and Return of the Saint.
