Social Buzz: Top TV Series, December 28, 2014 - January 3, 2015

Starting the social year off right!

Ah, another new year—resolutions have been made, gym memberships renewed, and detoxes have been started.

And speaking of beginnings, for the first Social Buzz of 2015, we decided to focus in on three television premieres and the long-awaited Netflix release of Friends. And now with all 10 Friends seasons available to stream, we felt it was appropriate to include the season two finale of Lisa Kudrow’s latest television endeavor The Comeback. We wanted to know if fans were talking about the following:

  • Lisa Kudrow’s ability to stage a comeback in The Comeback

  • The return of the reality series Undercover Boss
  • The season 5 premiere of the remake of the classic Hawaii Five-0 and the adventures of Detective Steve McGarrett

  • The season 5 premiere of New York police drama Blue Bloods
  • Netflix’s decision to bring all 10 seasons of the well-loved favorite Friends to its streaming library

The Social Totals

Fans' love for Friends was apparent, as the show had by far the most total social engagements of any of the series that we looked at, most likely due to their huge audience size and 10-year reign over the airwaves.

Active Audiences

Though a show may have the most number of total social engagements, it doesn’t necessarily translate into it having the most active fans. To add another dimension, we always take account of audience size. The Comeback staged a massive comeback on both social networks with 126.8 Facebook engagements per 1K fans and 155.7 Twitter engagements per 1K followers.
