Statement: 'Andy Griffith' Theme Used in Spirit of "Parody" at 64th Emmys
In response to an inquiry concerning the use of the Andy Griffith theme during the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards in a Breaking Bad-focused comedy sketch, the Television Academy released an official statement.
The use of the Andy Griffith Show theme in the Breaking Bad skit during the 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards program in 2012 was done in the spirit of a parody and was not in any way authorized by the owners and/or publishers of the composition.
