Sophia Cranshaw was a producer, director and writer for MTV, best known for her work on social-issue campaigns against genocide, mental illness and other social crises.

Cranshaw was the winner of the 2006 Governors Award Emmy for “Campaign for Darfur,” a public service announcement narrated by Alicia Keys about genocide and the abuse of women and girls in Western Sudan.

She also worked on the TV documentaries InDebtEd, Against Our Will Campaign, mtvU International Election and Against Our Will Campaign.

Cranshaw died of breast cancer on October 24, 2016, in New York City. She was 45.
