Sheila Mathews Allen was an actress and the widow of Irwin Allen, a producer best known for adventure- and action-themed films and TV series such as Lost in Space, Land of the Giants, The Towering Inferno, The Poseidon Adventure and Earthquake.

A native of New York City, she began singing as a child and began performing on the radio at a young age. In the 1940s and ’50s she appeared in numerous stage musicals on Broadway and as part of touring companies.

In the early 1960s Allen segued into television with roles in such series as Playhouse 90, ITV Play of the Week and Theatre 70. She continued to work in the medium, often appearing in projects produced by Irwin Allen, whom she met in 1960 and married in 1974. These included Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Lost in Space and Land of the Giants. In addition, she had a recurring role on The Waltons.

Her films credits included The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno.

Following her husband's passing in 1991, she served as president of Irwin Allen Productions, overseeing the development of various projects based on or insired by her husband's properties. In 2006 she was an executive producer of Poseidon, the Warner Bros. remake of The Poseidon Adventure

She died November 15, 2013, at age 84.
