Maximilian B. Bryer was an American television director.
After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, he earned his master’s degree in English from the University of Michigan.

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, he earned his master’s degree in English from the University of Michigan.
Bryer was then hired as a floor manager for the DuMont network in New York before joining the Benton & Bowles advertising agency as a vice president for the West Coast television production division. He directed and produced a number of commercials for the agency before starting his own production company, producing and directing television commercials.
Bryer helmed a documentary for the 50th anniversary of the Academy Awards, but was perhaps best known for directing episodes of daytime television soap operas including As the World Turns and The Edge of Night.
Bryer died June 16, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 98.
