Lewis John Carlino
Lewis John Carlino was an American screenwriter and director.
A veteran of the Korean War, Carlino studied at the University of Southern California, earning his bachelor's degree in film studies and his master's in drama. He is perhaps best known for writing the films Seconds (1966), I Never Promised You a Rose Garden (1977), and The Mechanic (1972).

Carlino also directed and wrote The Great Santini (1979) and The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea (1976); directed the movie Class (1983); and he wrote Haunted Summer (1988), Crazy Joe (1974), A Reflection of Fear (1972), The Brotherhood (1968), and The Fox (1967).
For television, Carlino penned episodes of Doc Elliot, Route 66, Johnny Midnight, CBS Repertoire Workshop, and telefilms such as Honor Thy Father, Where Have All the People Gone, and Resurrection.
Carlino died June 17, 2020, in Whidbey Island, Washington. He was 88.
