Herb Granath was an American television executive.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Granath started in the television industry as an NBC page while attending college.

Granath quickly established a solid reputation in cable television, eventually becoming chairman of the board of ESPN (and later chairman emeritus) after ABC purchased the cable channel in 1984. Granath also served as chairman of the board for A&E, The History Channel, Lifetime, and Disney/ABC International.

Granath received an International Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in International Television, and a U.S. Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports.

Granath held a number of other leadership positions, including president of the International Council of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, governor of the National Academy of Cable Programming, and director of the International Radio and Television Society.

Granath died November 26, 2019, in Stamford, Connecticut. He was 91.
