Forrest Compton was an American film and television actor.

After serving in World War II with the 103rd Infantry Division, he studied acting at Yale Drama School and graduated with a Master of Fine Arts.

Compton is best known for portraying Mike Karr in over 2,000 episodes on the soap opera The Edge of Night and also played Colonel Edward Gray on the television series Gomer Pyle: USMC.

He had recurring roles in Hogan’s Heroes, The F.B.I., The Edge of Night, and Ed and guest starred on several other television shows including Death Valley Days, Route 66, The Fugitive, The Invaders, The Twilight Zone, 77 Sunset Strip, My Three Sons, That Girl, Mannix, and All My Children.  

Compton also appeared on the big screen, notably in The Outsider (1961) and McBain (1991).

Compton died April 4, 2020, in Shelter Island, New York. He was 94.
