Dan Gerrity was an actor who worked widely in theater, television and film. A native of New Jersey, he began performing on the stage in the 1970s, and often appeared in productions at such Los Angeles venues as the Odyssey Theater, Tiffany Theater, Theatre/Theater and Mark Taper Forum.

 

Dan Gerrity was an actor who worked widely in theater, television and film. A native of New Jersey, he began performing on the stage in the 1970s, and often appeared in productions at such Los Angeles venues as the Odyssey Theater, Tiffany Theater, Theatre/Theater and Mark Taper Forum.

He made his television debut in a 1979 episode of the series Operation Petticoat and over the next 30-plus years he had roles in dozens of series and telefilms, including Cheers, Head of the Class, Night Court, Dallas, The Adventures of Brisco County, Murder One, The West WingJAG, The King of Queens and Las Vegas.

His feature films included A Test of Love, Hollywood HeartbreakSwing Vote, The Company You Keep and The Spirit.

In 2000, Gerrity moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he continued to work as an actor and became news director at public radio station KSFR-FM.   Gerrity died November 20, 2013, in Santa Fe. He was 59.   At the time of his passing he was directing a forthcoming production of A Christmas Carol at the Santa Fe Playhouse, where he served on the board.
