Chuck E. Weiss was an American songwriter, drummer, and vocalist.
Weiss was a part of the Los Angeles music scene throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, and may be best remembered as the subject of friend Rickie Lee Jones's 1979 song "Chuck E.'s in Love."
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Weiss was a drummer who played regularly with the musicians who came through the Denver music venue Ebbets Field.
After moving to Los Angeles, he did the same at a club called The Central. When the club fell on hard times, Weiss talked his friend Johnny Depp into investing in the club, which they renamed the Viper Room.
