Brian Clemens was a British-born action-adventure screenwriter and producer, best known for his work on The Avengers, The New Avengers and The Professionals. He was one of the definitive writers of his genre in British television in the 1960s and 70s.

Clemens started his career writing scripts for low-budget thrillers, but soon graduated to writing and producing his own series, The Avengers.  With over a hundred credits to his name for writing alone, Clemens was prolific in his field, even penning an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. He continued working in the thriller/spy genre late into his life, still writing stories and accruing credits at the age of 78.

While Clemens was primarily a British writer, he also made his mark stateside by writing for a number of shows on American television, including Remington Steele, Perry Mason and Highlander. His most notable feature film credits include The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and Highlander II: The Quickening.

In 2010 Queen Elizabeth II recognized Clemens with the Order of the British Empire honor for his work in broadcasting and drama.

Clemens died on January 10, 2015 in Bedfordshire, England. He was 83.
