Although she was best known for her television work, Ms. Lipton appeared in more than a dozen feature films, including The Postman (with Kevin Costner), When in Rome (with Kristen Bell), and A Dog’s Purpose (with Dennis Quaid).

Her final television appearances include episodes of the 2017 reboot of Twin Peaks, and two episodes of Angie Tribeca, playing the mother of the character played by her real-life daughter, Rashida Jones.
