Grant Imahara

Grant Imahara was an American electrical engineer, roboticist, and actor.

With a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, Imahara was best known for his work as a co-host on the television series MythBusters. He designed and built a number of robots, computers, and electronics in an effort to debunk or prove myths, appearing in over 200 episodes of the show.

He also hosted episodes of Punkin Chunkin, Explain Things to Me, White Rabbit Project, TableTop, and BattleBots, and acted in Caper, Star Trek: Renegades, Star Trek Continues, and Drunk History.

Behind the scenes, Imahara was a skilled visual effects model maker at Industrial Light & Magic. He worked on several blockbuster pictures including The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Galaxy Quest (1999), A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2001), Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003), and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005).

Imahara died July 13, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. He was 49.
