Ronald L. Schwary was an American producer and director.

A business graduate of the University of Southern California, Schwary is perhaps best known as the Academy Award winning producer of the film Ordinary People (1980).

He led six features directed by Sydney Pollack: The Electric Horseman (1979) and Havana (1990), both starring Robert Redford; Absence of Malice (1982), Tootsie (1982), and two films with Harrison Ford: Sabrina (1995) and Random Hearts (1999).

He was also an experienced assistant director and director in television, contributing to programs such as Kung Fu, Barnaby Jones, Movin’ On, Tour of Duty, Sisters, Now and Again, and Medium.

Schwary died July 2, 2020, in Los Angeles, California. He was 76.
