Alan Metter
Alan Metter was an American film and television director.
With a career that began in advertising, Metter directed music videos for Olivia Newton-John and worked with Steve Martin on his television special Steve Martin: A Wild and Crazy Guy (1978) before producing and directing the comedian's one-hour NBC comedy special, The Winds of Whoopie (1983).
Metter then helmed the 1984 video Rodney Dangerfield: Rappin' Rodney, which led to him directing Dangerfield's movie Back to School (1986).

He went on to direct the films Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985) with Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt; Moving (1988), starring Richard Pryor and Randy Quaid; Working Tra$h (1990), with George Carlin and Ben Stiller; and the seventh and final installment of the Police Academy franchise, Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994).
Metter died June 7, 2020, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was 77.
