Thomas Rickman was an American screenwriter.
Rickman attended graduate school at the University of Illinois. He left Illinois to attend the AFI Conservatory, which led to his first screenwriting film credit for the 1972 film Kansas City Bomber (with Raquel Welch). Among Rickman's other writing credits are two Burt Reynolds films: W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings (1975), and Hooper (1978).

Rickman received an Academy Award nomination for his screenplay for Coal Miner's Daughter (with Sissy Spacek), and two Emmy Award nominations for his work on the TV films Truman (with Gary Sinise), and The Reagans (with Judy Davis and James Brolin).
Rickman died September 3, 2018. He was 78.
