Aviva Jacobs, Associate Director on Numerous Television Series

Jacobs worked for years in both New York and Los Angeles and earned two Daytime Emmy nominations.

Aviva Jacobs, an associate director who worked on soap operas and sitcoms, died July 12, 2013, in Culver City, California. She was 60.

According to news reports, the cause was cancer.

The Skokie, Illinois native studied communications at Boston University, after which she found work at CBS in New York City, and became associate director of the daytime drama Love of Life.

After a move to Los Angeles in 1980, she on several other programs, including Superior Court, Family Medical Center, Big Brother Jake, Parenthood, Malibu, CA and All About Us.

Jacobs earned two Daytime Emmy nominations — in 1988, for Superior Court, and in 1989, for Family Medical Center.
