Judith Crist, Film Critic in Print and Television Known for Biting Style
In addition to writing for such publications as the New York Herald Tribune, New York magazine and TV Guide, Crist reviewed movies on NBC's Today show for 10 years.
Judith Crist, one of the most popular and best known film critics in the U.S. for many years, whose worked in both print and on television, died August 7, 2012, at her New York City home. She was 90.
Crist, who was most prominent from the early 1960s through the 1990s, wrote for many years at the New York Herald Tribune. She was also the founding film critic for New York magazine and spent 22 years with TV Guide.
In addition she was an on-air reviewer for NBC's Today show, where, as the program's first regular film critic, she opined from 1963 to 1973.
The exposure in so many media outlets, as well as her direct, no-nonsese style, made Crist one of the most respected and influential critics in the business.
