Jon Zimmer was a writer and producer best known for his work on the short-lived NBC comedy My Mother the Car. He served on the show as an assistant producer for the full run — a single season, from 1965 to 1966.

The show centered on the relationship between a man and his mother. It starred Jerry Van Dyke as an attorney who buys a 1928 used car and discovers it is the reincarnation of his mother, Gladys, voiced by Ann Sothern.

In 1960 Zimmer wrote an episode of Leave It to Beaver titled "Tire Trouble," in which the boys’ effort to clean the garage results in the family car getting a flat tire.

He was the father of United Talent Agency CEO Jeremy Zimmer.

Zimmer died February 22, 2015, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.  He was 84.
