Geoff Edwards was a game show host best known for such shows as Jackpot!, Celebrity Sweepstakes, Treasure Hunt and Starcade.

The New Jersey native got his start in radio and worked in Albany, San Diego and Los Angeles and broke into TV in the late 1960s with acting roles in shows such as I Dream of Jeannie, That Girl and Petticoat Junction.

The New Jersey native got his start in radio and worked in Albany, San Diego and Los Angeles and broke into TV in the late 1960s with acting roles in shows such as I Dream of Jeannie, That Girl and Petticoat Junction.

He got his start in game shows in 1973 with Hollywood's Talking, followed by Jackpot! and The New Treasure Hunt. In the years that followed he also hosted such shows as Shoot for the Stars, Chain ReactionPlay the Percentages and Starcade.

He also continued to work as an actor throughout his career, and had guest roles in Police Woman, Diff'rent Strokes, The Paper Chase, Trapper John, M.D., Small Wonder and other series.

In 1976 Edwards was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Jackpot!, and in 1985, he and Meredith MacRae won a Los Angeles Area Emmy as hosts of the talk show Mid-Morning Los Angeles.

In later years he became known as a travel writer and hosted travel-themed shows on both radio and television.

Edwards died March 5, 2014, in Santa Monica, California. He was 83.
