Paul Pompian was a producer, writer and executive who worked widely in both film and television over the course of a career that spanned more than 30 years.
The Chicago native graduated from that city's Loyola University and the New College School of Law in San Francisco. He then served in the army before going to work for Chicago mayor Richard J. Daley. He also worked on documentaries, commercials and industrial films in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles.

He also worked on documentaries, commercials and industrial films in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles.
In L.A. he worked for New World Pictures, MGM, Universal, Lionsgate, AEG and his own production company. In the mid-1970s he worked on animated TV programs such as Scooby's Laff-A-Lympics and live-action productions ranging from the variety show Donny and Marie and telefilms such as Death of a Centerfold: The Dorothy Stratten Story and The Hearst and Davies Affair.
His numerous other made-for-television movies included Silent Witness, The Stepford Children, The Preppie Murder, Fatal Deception: Mrs. Lee Harvey Oswald, Dazzle and Time Served.
From 2000 to 2004, Pompian was executive vice president of Crusader Entertainment/Bristol Bay Entertainment at AEG.
In addition, he produced several feature films, including Swimming Upstream, The Watcher, Joshua and Velocity.
Pompian died January 1, 2014, in Duarte, California. He was 73.
