Price Is Right announcer Rod Roddy dies

Rod Roddy, who called upon audience members on The Price is Right! to "Come on down!", has died. He was 66.

Roddy also announced the shows Love Connection and Press Your Luck, but The Price is Right, one of television's most famous game shows is what brought him fame. He was known on the long-running show for both his voice and his flamboyant wardrobe. He served as the show's announcer for 17 years.

Robert Ray Roddy, was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University and a popular disc jockey in Texas when he decided to expand his career in Hollywood.

He began his announcing career as a voice-over artist for commercials in Los Angeles, finally getting his big break in television with the 1977-81 satire Soap.
