Presenters Bring Star Power to Creative Arts Emmys

Stars of 30 Rock, Mad Men, Big Bang and more of the screens finest gather to celebrate the artists, techs and all the behind-the-scenes stars who have a hand in making your screens come alive.

The 2009 Creative Arts Emmy Awards is shaping up as a star-studded affair.

Host for the ceremony – which takes place on Saturday, September 12, at NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, then airs Friday, September 18, at 1:00 pm on E! – is two-time Emmy winner Kathy Griffin, star of Bravo’s Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.

How I Met Your Mother's Neil Patrick Harris hosts the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 20, also at NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE, airing live on CBS 8pm/7c.

The majority of the Creative Arts Emmys, which this year will bestow 82 awards, are dedicated to key technical disciplines and behind-the-scenes crafts essential to television production: art direction, cinematography, hairstyling, makeup, music, picture editing, sound editing and mixing, special visual effects, stunts and more.

Awards are also handed out for animation, commercials, reality series and other programming, and four acting categories: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

Nominees in the acting categories include Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm, Tina Fey and Michael J. Fox.

The prestigious Governors Award, which is given to individuals or organizations committed to important social causes, will be given to Sheila Nevins, president of HBO Documentary Films. The honor will be presented by Elaine Stritch winner of three Primetime Emmys, including one for the 2004 HBO special Elaine Stritch: At Liberty.

E! Entertainment Television will air the awards show as a 2-hour special on Friday, September 18, at 1:00 p.m. (ET/PT). This year’s executive producers are Lee Miller and Steve Venezia, and producing for the 15th time is Spike Jones, Jr. Carole Propp is coordinating producer, Chris Donovan will direct and Tony DeSena is co-producing.
