Quinnie Martin, Jr., Emmy-Nominated Editor, Passes
Received his nomination for a 1986 episode of L.A. Law.
Editor Quinnie Martin Jr., an editor who worked on L.A. Law and other television series, died of cancer July 8, 2010, in Henderson, Nevada. He was 64.
Martin was one of the first African-Americans to become a member of the Film Editors local 776.
He started out as in the janitorial department at Warner Bros. in the late 1960s and worked his way up to the editor’s booth. His first credit was for an episode of Nero Wolfe in 1981.
Martin earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for editing a 1986 episode of L.A. Law.
He also worked on such shows as CHiPS, The Cosby Mysteries, Wonder Woman, Palmerstown U.S.A. and Women of Brewster Place.
His feature film credits include The Ink Well and After Midnight. In 2009 he produced Heroes.
Survivors include his wife, two sons and four grandchildren.
