Alan Fudge, Actor with More Than 100 Television Credits

In addition to guest roles in numerous series, Fudge had recurring roles in Eischied, The Man from Atlantis, Paper Dolls, 7th Heaven and others.

Alan Fudge, who amassed more than 100 television credits in a career than extended from the early 1970s to the late 2000s, died October 10, 2011, in Los Angeles. He was 67.

According to news reports, the cause was lung and liver cancer.

Fudge is perhaps best known for recurring roles in such television series as Eischied, Man From Atlantis, Paper Dolls and 7th Heaven.

He also appeared in such feature films as Capricorn One, Chapter Two, The Border, Brainstorm, The Natural and Edward Scissorhands.

Born February 27, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, he was five years old when his family moved to Tucson, Arizona. He studied theater at the University of Arizona, after which he moved to New York to pursue his performing career. He got his start in the theater, which include small roles on Broadway in the late 1960s.

He made his television debut in a 1972 episode of Gunsmoke, and over the ensuing decades he appeared in dozens of series, including Banacek, Kojak, Kung Fu, Mannix, The Rookies, M*A*S*H, Starsky and Hutch, Charlie’s Angel, The Waltons, Barnaby Jones, Hawaii Five-O, Lou Grant, The A-Team, Columbo, Dynasty, L.A. Law and many, many others.

His more recent series credits included episodes of How I Met Your Mother, Big Love, The Closer and The Office.

He is survived by his wife, a son, two daughters and a grandson.
