Actor Andrew Koenig, Former Growing Pains Co-Star, Dies
The 41-year-old performer was the son of former Star Trek star Walter Koenig.
Andrew Koenig, an actor best known for the role of Richard “Boner” Stabone on the television comedy Growing Pains, was found dead in Vancouver’s Stanley Park on February 25, 2010. Koenig was reported missing by his parents after he did not return home to Los Angeles last week.
According to new reports, Koenig, the son of actor Walter Koenig, who played the role of Chekov on the original Star Trek series, took his own life.
Walter Koenig told news outlets that his son had battled severe depression for some time.
In addition to Growing Pains, Andrew Koenig appeared in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and My Two Dads. He also had roles in feature films such as NonSeNse, InAlienable and The Theory of Everything.
In addition to Koenig’s work as an actor, his father mentioned that he was a talented film editing and director. He was also an environmental activist and an advocate for refugees from Myanmar.
