In Memoriam: Hugh F. Del Regno, 76

Hugh F. Del Regno, who worked in television for over forty years, died Wednesday, February 25 of lung cancer.

Mr. Del Regno, 76, began his broadcasting career as Director of Scenic Arts & Construction at CBS, New York in the early days of live television in 1948. He then worked for NBC from 1957 to 1963 as Director of Business Affairs for the Radio & Television Stations Division in New York, and then the Central Division in Chicago. He moved to Los Angeles in 1963, joined RKO General as Controller and held that position until 1975. He worked as Vice President & Director of Business Affairs for Metromedia Television/KTTV/Metrotape West in the late seventies, and then moved on to positions at Shamrock Broadcasting and KCET. In 1981 he became Controller for the CBS Entertainment Division, and then Controller for the CBS Network West Coast Division. His rich career included the oversight of station operations, production and facilities operations as well as network operations.

Mr. Del Regno taught TV management and programming at the University of Southern California and at California State University at Northridge. He served as President and Chairman of the Broadcast/Cable Financial Management Association and for four years as the Chairman of the Audit & Finance Committee of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Mr. Del Regno graduated from Fordham University with a B.S. in Accounting & Management and held an M.B.A. from New York University.
