Primetime Emmy Tally: Two

How She Got the Gold: Outstanding costumes for a variety program or a special, 2009 and 2010, for Fox's So You Think You Can Dance

Now for the Noms: Both of her nominations resulted in a win.

The First Time: "I was so excited to receive my Emmy, and having Carol Burnett present it to me made for an incredible night. It meant a lot to me that a woman who is so strong, charismatic and funny gave me such a big award."

Dream On: "Each time I won was different, but both were surreal. The first time I was up there, I couldn't believe I was there! I was floating... like an out-of-body experience. The second time I was a little more grounded, but I still felt on top of the world."

Art Meets Action: "Week after week, I pushed my limits as a designer — I felt like I was setting trends artistically and in the fashion mainstream. I wanted to make sure that every piece was beautiful, fashion-forward and functional. Just because I was making a dance costume, it didn't need to be all spandex, a unitard or basic."

Dress Stress: "Dressing for the Emmys is stressful! I felt so much pressure to make my own dress, which wasn't the best idea with my limited time. The dress I made for the first year was pretty cute. With the second, I was trying to add a kitschy light-up element, but I ran out of time. It was a disaster. A magazine wrote that I should stick to dressing people other than myself. Yikes."

Work Perks: "The best part of being a costume designer is being able to tell a story through clothing and having the power to help an actor or performer pull out the character they are playing. It's so important that you get it right because it can change the stance of a performer."
