It's a Fair Request State Fair Calls for Talent

The California Exposition & State Fair put out a talent call today for solo acts, bands, dance troupes and other "family-oriented" entertainers to fill five stages at the fair, which runs Aug. 20-Sept. 6 in Sacramento.

What's the pay? It depends. Entertainers who want compensation must submit a promotional packet along with their application. Community-supported or nonpaid acts don't need to turn in pitch material, the announcement said.

Officials will continue to accept applications for "cultural programming" even after the fair gets under way.

Applications must be faxed, e-mailed or postmarked by May 28, 2004. "But the sooner the application is submitted, the better, as space is limited," the announcement said.

The address: California State Fair, Attn: Entertainment, P.O. Box 15649, Sacramento, CA 95852, or fax to (916) 263-3304. For more information contact the California State Fair Entertainment Department at (916) 263-3141 or by e-mail at entertainment@calexpo.com.

Applications are available at the State Fair web site: State Fair Entertainer Application (PDF)
