International Emmys Receive Record Number of Entries

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced a record number of entries for the 32nd International Emmy Awards competition. The number of entries was up four percent from 2003, with 608 programs submitted from over 40 countries. This year’s International Emmys will be presented to the most oustanding television programs originating outside the United States at the annual Awards Gala show on Monday, November 22 in New York City.

"We are delighted that there is a first-time entry, a drama series, from the country of Cambodia and that the number of entries from South African producers has quadrupled" said International Academy Co-Chair Larry Gershman. "I would like to extend my warm thank you to contributing countries for another great year of international television; the quality of the programming entered represents excellence beyond our expectations."

This year, the International Academy will enable their 500 judges to screen the award nominees online, over a high performance global IP network provided by SAVVVIS Communications. SAVVIS will digitize the International Emmy Award nominated programs and offer the judges a secure, online screening process, sparing the time and expense of producing and shipping hundreds of tapes in multiple formats to locations around the world.
