Emmy Nominations Falco and Shaloub to Make 2004 Announcement

Emmy winners Tony Shalhoub (Monk) and Edie Falco (The Sopranos) are joining Academy Chairman and CEO Dick Askin to announce the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations. Nominees in the top eleven categories will be revealed during a live ceremony at the Academy's Goldenson Theater on July 15.

Edie Falco, as Carmela Soprano on HBO's The Sopranos, won her third Emmy last year as lead actress in a drama series. Falco’s television career has also included recurring roles on the HBO series OZ, as well as NBC's Law and Order and Homicide.

Tony Shalhoub last year received his first Emmy Award for lead actor in a comedy series for his portrayal of an obsessive detective on the USA Network series Monk, where he is also executive producer. Shalhoub’s television credits include regular roles on the sitcoms Stark Raving Mad and Wings.

For the fourteenth consecutive year, Douglass M. Stewart, Jr. is producing the announcement ceremony. The 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air September 19 on the ABC Television Network and will be staged at the historic Shrine Auditorium. The Primetime Creative Arts ceremony is set for September 12, also at the Shrine.
