Christopher Receives ADG Lifetime Achievement Award

Academy member and production designer Roy Christopher, winner of seven Emmy Awards and a 32-time nominee, primarily for his production design work for the Annual Academy Award programs, has been voted the Art Directors Guild’s (ADG’s) coveted honorary Lifetime Achievement Award, it was jointly announced today by ADG President Thomas A. Walsh and Awards Co-Chairmen Jim Bissell and Norman Newberry.

Christopher is a veteran of television production design, having created the look of several classic television series, including Welcome Back Kotter, Murphy Brown, and Frasier. He has also designed several Tony and Emmy Awards productions, as well as a record-breaking 14 Academy Award productions.

The award will be presented to Chistopher during the Eighth Annual Art Directors Guild Awards on Saturday, February 14. Previous ADG Lifetime Achievement honorees have been Albert Brenner, Ken Adam, Jan Scott, Richard Sylbert, Harold Michelson, Henry Bumstead and Robert Boyle.
