Robert Berdell was a costume and fashion designer best known for his work on General Hospital, which earned him two Daytime Emmy Award nominations, in 1983 and 1984.

Berdell got his start after earning a degree in drama, then becoming a set designer with the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. In 1978, he moved to Hollywood to work on the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital, which he contributed to from 1982 to 1984.

He also worked on the series Fantasy Island, Santa Barbara, The Colbys, Our House and Brothers. Additionally, he worked on the feature films Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Millers Crossing, True Confessions and Peggy Sue Got Married, as well as the telefilms The Finish Line, with James and Josh Brolin; Scruples and Gideon-Oliver, with Lou Gossett Jr.

He formed his own company, Robert Berdell Designs, to create eveningwear for actresses, which included clients Michelle Lee, Morgan Fairchild and Elizabeth Taylor.

Later in life, Berdell switched career paths and pursued a Master's Degree in Psychology, after which he began work in art therapy and clinical psychology.

Berdell died November 21, 2015. He was 63.
