Joe Voci was a producer, writer and television executive who worked on a slew of well-known and beloved television series, including Veronica Mars and Young Americans. Voci was also noted for his innovative approach to television, such as creating the first-ever watch-and-chat event. which he devised for fans of Young Americans.

After moving to Los Angeles from Philadelphia in 1987, Voci got a job with New World Television, where he oversaw production of The Wonder Years. He later moved to CBS, where he became vice president of comedy programming. Voci was a part of an executive team that brought long-running shows such as Murphy Brown, The Nanny and Designing Women to air. The network rose to the top of the ratings charts, from the number three spot, in a matter of two years.

In 1994 Voci left CBS to take a production deal with Warner Brothers, advancing his own production company, JVTV. Together they produced High Society, starring Jean Smart and Mary McDonnell, which aired in the post-Murphy Brown slot.

In 1998 Voci became a partner at Mandalay Television, where all three of his pilots were picked up in his first season, by three different networks: Cupid (ABC), Rude Awakening (Showtime) and Oh, Baby (Lifetime). In 2003 Voci returned to JVTV and wrote more than 20 pilots.

Voci died February 7, 2015, in New Jersey. The reported cause was brain cancer. He was 51.
