Frank Kohler

Frank joined the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in March 2003 as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer. In this capacity, Frank has overall responsibility for the Academy's business and financial management plans, policies and procedures. He also supervises the day-to-day activities of the Controller's office, Management Information Systems, Human Resources, Facilities, Administration and Theater operations. Frank directs the strategic planning, budget and cash management functions and provides business development information to the Chief Operating Officer and Board levels of the organization.

Frank reports to the Chief Operating Officer of the Academy. His responsibilities also cross over to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation.

Previously, Frank spent over 20 years at Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) in a variety of senior level, operationally oriented financial positions with extensive and diversified experience in global financial operations, business process improvement, financial modeling and mergers and acquisitions. From 1990 through 2001, he was the Senior Vice President – Finance of the Studio Operations/Digital Studios division; a business unit with over $400 million of annual revenues that included a visual effects/computer animation company, a full-service studio production and post production sound facility, an online gaming company and start-up companies involved in the delivery of filmed entertainment content via the internet.

Frank was also the Senior Vice President – Finance for SPE's Motion Picture Group. The group generated over $1 billion of annual revenues. Frank was responsible for the all finance and accounting functions of the worldwide theatrical distribution businesses that released over 25 films per year. He also managed the production accounting function for an annual slate of over 20 films with aggregate spending in excess of $600 million.

Frank began his business career with the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse.

Frank received a Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives International and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.
