Viewing Platform Submission Specifications for Emmy Nominees

GENERAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE: THURSDAY, JULY 20
CASTING DEADLINE: MONDAY, JULY 24
SOUND DEADLINE: (coming separately)

Please follow the steps on the email to upload the digital file for the nominated programs. For most nominations, please upload the complete program or episode that is nominated. No DVDs will be accepted. Categories that have special specifications are listed below. Programs need to be submitted as broadcast with no internal editing. Replace commercials and other interstitials with 2-3 seconds of black.

All Uploads*:

  • Consideration for Emmy Awards is conditioned on timely delivery of a correctly prepared file.
  • Failure to deliver correct files on time may result in your submission not being judged.
  • Quality Assurance is the responsibility of the nominee. Failure to provide correctly-prepared submissions will result in you being required to immediately resubmit a new file.
  • If one episode is nominated in multiple categories, you only need to upload that episode once.


Steps to upload file:

  1. Download the Slicer application. (verizondigitalmedia.com/television-academy)
  2. Install the application (for Windows and Mac OS X).
  3. Username to upload video:
    video.upload::submit@televisionacademy.com

    (copy and paste the entire bold username).

  4. Password to upload video: 4vusEmm!z
  5. Upload video.
  6. Complete!


File Specifications: (Please note: Programs need to be submitted as broadcast with no internal editing. Replace commercials and other interstitials with 2-3 seconds of black.)

  • Video specifications: Minimum of 720p – Stereo – Standard broadcast quality - 2.5 Mb/s
    (This is the minimum requirement - please provide the best possible file)
  • Preferred format:  .mp4 or .mov
  • Slates/Title cards: NONE
  • Bars and Tone: NONE
  • Credits: Include the beginning and end credits
  • File name: Please follow the file naming convention
    Programs/Individuals: ProgramName_EpisodeName
    - Do not abbreviate the name of the program
    - Use the name of the episode, not the episode number (unless it is the only title for the episode)
    - e.g. TheWestWing_TwoCathedrals not TWW_Episode22

CATEGORY-SPECIFIC SPECIFICATIONS

COMEDY AND DRAMA SERIES PROGRAM SPECIFICATIONS: DEADLINE JULY 20

Please note that comedy and drama series program nominees must submit a total of six episodes. A two-parter will count as two episodes.

Category 81 – Comedy Series
Category 82 – Drama Series
Category 89 – Short Form Comedy or Drama Series

SUPPORTING ACTOR/ACTRESS FOR LIMITED SERIES/MOVIE SPECIFICATIONS: DEADLINE JULY 20

Category 69 – Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
Category 72 – Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie

Nominees for a Limited Series must select and upload one episode only.

SHORT FORM ACTING SPECIFICATIONS: DEADLINE JULY 20

Category 77 – Actor in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series
Category 78 – Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series

Nominees for Short Form Actor/Actress must select and upload one episode only.

SHORT FORM VARIETY AND NONFICTION SPECIFICATIONS: DEADLINE JULY 20

Category 90 – Short Form Variety Series
Category 91 – Short Form Nonfiction or Reality Series

Nominees for Short Form Variety and Nonfiction/Reality must select and upload one episode only.

CASTING SPECIFICATIONS: DEADLINE JULY 24

Requirements for the following categories:
Category 10 – Casting for a Comedy Series
Category 11 – Casting for a Drama Series
Category 13 - Casting for a Reality Program


Please submit an edited upload of composite clips from up to three series episodes (entrant's choice) with a total running time of up to thirty minutes. More than three episodes will disqualify the entry.

Additionally, please email the following information as a PDF to guyton@televisionacademy.com, which will be distributed to the voters:

  1. A synopsis and cast list for each scene on the composite video.  Please clearly denote which performers were cast in the nominated season.
  2. A complete cast list from the nominated season. Again, please clearly denote which cast members were cast during the nominated season.

Category 12 – Casting for a Limited Series, Movie or a Special

Please submit an edited upload that composites up to thirty minutes (entrant's choice) of the entered limited series (from one or more parts), movie or special.

Additionally, please email the following information as a PDF to guyton@televisionacademy.com, which will be distributed to the voters:

  1. A synopsis and cast list for each scene on the composite video.
  2. A complete cast list from the Limited Series, Movie, or Special.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAM SERIES SPECIFICATIONS: DEADLINE JULY 20

Area 92 – Children's Programming

Please note that children's program series nominees must submit a total of two episodes. A two-parter will count as two episodes.

WRITING SPECIFICATIONS: DEADLINE JULY 20

SCRIPTS: For writing categories 114, 115, 116 (comedy, drama series, limited series/movie) please email a PDF of the writer's choice of the best version (not necessarily the final version) of the script to Sara Guyton (guyton@televisionacademy.com). The script will be made available to the judges.

SOUND SPECIFICATIONS

Requirements for the Sound categories will come under a separate email/document.
