TV Cares — and Contributes Donations Given to Three Causes

By Libby Slate

TV Cares, the HIV/AIDS fundraising and awareness arm of the Television Academy, recently made donations to three charities. Receiving checks for $4,000 each were the nonprofits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Caring for Children and Families with AIDS and Project New Hope.

“The money had been building up,” said TV Cares chairman David Michaels. “Although we’re not primarily a fundraising organization, when people do make donations, we’re very happy to split them between these three very worthy charities.”

And how happy were the three charities? “They were thrilled,” Michaels says.
