Seligman Named Producer of Primetime Emmys

Michael B. Seligman has been named producer of the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, it was announced today by Don Mischer, executive producer of the telecast. The 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live Sunday, September 19 (8:00- 11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the ABC Television Network originating from the historic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

"Michael and I have an extensive working relationship with the Emmy Awards show and I am pleased to have him leading our production team," said Mischer. "His experience and creativity is invaluable and will be a tremendous asset to the look and feel of the show."

Specializing in live broadcasts around the world, Seligman has more than 300 major events to his credit including 15 years as Supervising Producer of the Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. A three-time Emmy nominee himself, Seligman was the Executive Producer of the 76th Annual Academy Awards. He was Supervising Producer of CBS at 75, Christopher Reeve’s Circle of Hope Special as well as the Harry Connick, Jr. Christmas Show. Other recent credits include Producer of the Museum of Television and Radio’s first NBC special Funny Women of Television, Producer of the last five annual Environmental Media Awards, Producer of the Eighth International Special Olympics program and co-producer Warner Bros. Celebration of Truth with David Wolper and Jack Haley, Jr.

Seligman has been Associate Producer and Supervising Producer on such annual telecasts as the Academy Awards shows from 1976 to 2004, and The Kennedy Center Honors from 1976 to 2002 and An American Celebration at Ford’s Theatre in 1999 and from 2001 to 2004. At President Reagan’s request, he produced both the 1980 and 1984 Presidential Inaugural Galas; he served as Producer for the Presidential Inaugural Committee on the 1992 Presidential Inaugural broadcasts for President Clinton.

Additionally, Seligman produced Return to the Titanic, live from Paris -- television's second highest-rated syndicated special in history; U.F.O. Coverup and Dancing in the Wings starring Debbie Allen, as well as Co-Executive Producer on the syndicated series Dream Girl USA. More recently, executive produced A Taste of Lexus national tour; produced Nissan Presents: The 1st and 2nd Annual Celebration Of America’s Music, the four hour U.N.C.F. Special An Evening of Stars and the Mississippi Gala at Kennedy Center which raised 13 million dollars for the University of Mississippi.
