Paul W. Keyes Dies

Emmy Award winner Paul W. Keyes, a writer and producer for several classic series, including The Jack Paar Show, The Dean Martin Show and Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, has died. He was 79.Keyes died in Woodland Hills of natural causes.During his long television career, Keyes was awarded three Emmy Awards - one in 1968 for writing Laugh-In, another the following year for producing the show, and a third in 1974 for producing The American Film Institute Salute to James Cagney. He won a Golden Globe Award and was inducted into the Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame in 1994.

Keyes began his entertainment career working in radio production for the Yankee Network, and then Hearst Radio, where he directed Front Page Drama. He then made the transition to television, becoming a writer on Omnibus for CBS.He went on to write for Tonight with Steve Allen on NBC, and then became head writer (and eventually producer) for The Jack Paar Show. Keyes continued to write and produce programs for Paar after the entertainer left the show. Keyes also wrote and produced The Dean Martin Show, as well as Laugh-In.
