Producer Joanne Dillon Dies
The longtime television professional’s credits included numerous Emmy and Oscar telecasts.
Joanne Dillon, an associate producer at Seligman Entertainment who worked on the Academy Awards telecast since 1999, died June 14, 2010, in Los Angeles. According to news reports, Dillon had been injured in a fall at her home. She was 58.
Dillon served as an associate producer on the 82nd Annual Academy Awards in March. She also was a producer on benefit shows Stand Up 2 Cancer and Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education.
A native of New Jersey who graduated from Rutgers University, Dillon began her entertainment career in New York, where she ran the Teleprompter for NBC’s Weekend Today. In the early 1990s she moved to Los Angeles to work for MTV and Nickelodeon.
In 2000, she began working on live events and assisted veteran producer Michael Seligman on several Primetime Emmy Awards telecasts, as well as Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live! and the annual A Capitol Fourth celebration.
In addition to her career accomplishments, Dillon supported many charities, including several animal rescues. She raised money by participating each year in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and AIDS Walk New York.
Dillon is survived by her mother, three sisters, a brother, a daughter, a granddaughter and a son-in-law.
