This year marks the 11th anniversary of the Primetime Emmy Award for Interactive Media. The Interactive Media Peer Group was created in 2000 to acknowledge the changing landscape of television. Specifically, the peer group recognizes that audiences are increasingly engaged in the television viewing experience through interactive features delivered via broadcast, cable, satellite, broadband and mobile networks. The Primetime Emmy Award for Interactive Media was established to recognize emerging television programming formats, innovations by program creators and groundbreaking interactive media experiences, including participatory features that enhance and extend the traditional viewing experience.

The 2011 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media was awarded to the “Oscar Digital Experience,” from ABC.com/Disney ABC Television Group and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The 2012 Primetime Emmy Award for Interactive Media will recognize creative excellence in interactive productions commercially deployed between June 1, 2011, and May 31, 2012. The deadline for submitting an online entry form is May 4, 2012.

Entries can be made here.

Further information about the Interactive Media category in particular, can be found here.

The Interactive Media Peer Group members at-large will select the 2012 Primetime Emmy Award Nominees from all eligible entries and determine the Primetime Emmy Award winner or winners. There may be one, more than one, or no Emmy statuette(s) awarded to the individual(s) or company(s) directly involved with, and principally responsible for, the recognized Interactive Media production(s).

Nominees will be announced on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at 5:35 a.m. PDT. Following the announcement of the 2012 Primetime Emmy Award Nominees, a Blue Ribbon Panel comprised of members of the Television Academy’s Interactive Media Peer Group will evaluate the Nominees and their vote will determine who will receive the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media.

The 64th Primetime Emmy Award winners will be announced at the Creative Arts Awards ceremony on Saturday, September 15, 2012, and/or the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast, Sunday, September 23, on ABC.
