Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, Law & Order) and Jami Gertz (Still Standing) Join Academy Chairman Dick Askin to Announce the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations

North Hollywood, CA, July 11, 2005 – – Emmy Award winner, Michael Imperioli (“The Sopranos,” "Law & Order") and Emmy Award nominee Jami Gertz ("Still Standing") will join Dick Askin, Chairman and CEO, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, to announce the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards nominations live on Thursday, July 14 at 5:39 a.m. at the Academy’s Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood. 

Nominees in the top eleven categories will be revealed in the four-minute live ceremony.  For the fifteenth consecutive year, Douglass M. Stewart, Jr. will be producing the event. The 57th Annual Primetime Emmys will air on September 18 on the CBS Television Network and will originate from the historic Shrine Auditorium.

Michael Imperioli received his first Emmy Award last September for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of hot headed Christopher Moltisanti on HBO's Emmy Award winning series "The Sopranos."   Last spring, he replaced Jesse L. Martin on NBC's "Law & Order" for four episodes while Martin was filming the movie version of "Rent."  Imperioli also appeared in numerous films and television series including a starring role in "The Five People You Meet in Heaven," and guest starring roles on Law & Order in 1996 and New York Undercover in 1997.

Jami Gertz, who plays Judy Miller in the CBS comedy "Still Standing," also starred in the CBS series "Square Pegs" and received an Emmy nomination for her guest- starring role on "Ally McBeal."  Her additional guest-starring roles include "Seinfeld," "ER" and "Dream On."  In addition, Gertz starred in the television movies "Gilda Radner: It's Always Something," and CBS's "Undercover Christmas."  Gertz will be seen on the big screen in the independent feature “Lucky 13” with Jeremy Piven.  Her additional film credits include "Twister," "The Lost Boys," "Less Than Zero" and "Jersey Girl." On stage, Gertz appeared in the Off-Broadway production of Garry Marshall's "Wrong Turn at Lungfish" with George C. Scott.  She also starred in "Come Back, Little Sheba" and "Out of Gas on Lover's Leap."

Dick Askin is serving his first term as Chairman of the Television Academy.  An elected officer, Askin is also President and Chief Executive Officer of Tribune Entertainment Company where he oversees the company’s entire television program development, production and distribution activities of a wide range of programming.  Currently, Tribune Entertainment distributes eleven series, representing more than ten hours of first-run and off-net programming per week.  Askin also oversees the Hollywood-based Tribune Studios, the first all-digital studio lot in the U.S.
