Florida State Scores at College Television Awards

Florida State University film students won an unprecented five awards this year at the College Television Awards, which marked their silver anniversary this year. The awards, presented by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation to recognize excellence in college student film and video productions, were held Sunday, March 28 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel. The ceremonies were hosted by Christopher McDonald; former Lakers basketball player James Worthy and 24 star Penny Johnson Jerald were among the luminaries serving as presenters.
The Academy Foundation received a near-record 395 entries this year from 138 schools across the country, from Tallahassee to Ithaca. Florida State University led the award tally, taking home five plaques, four of them awarded to graduate students. USC was second with four awards. Cal Arts swept the traditional animation awards, winning three plaques.
