Emmy Winner Jamison Dies

Emmy Winner George Marshall Jamison died on September 2 of congestive heart failure. Jamison won an Emmy in 1960 as the executive producer of The Fabulous Fifties, starring Henry Fonda.

Jamison was a student at The New England Conservatory of Music and Yale University. From 1942 to 1946, he served as a staff officer for the U.S. Maritime Service. After his tour of duty, he moved to New York City to pursue his interest in the theatre.

His first roles were in off-Broadway productions. In 1948, Jamison made his Broadway debut in Mister Roberts; he then transitioned into directing and producing.

Jamison began his television career in 1953, serving as the Associate Producer and Director of Ford's Fiftieth Anniversary. From 1956 to 1958, Jamison was the Executive Producer of The U.S. Steel Hour. During the 1960's, Jamison was director of the popular network television series That Was the Week That Was, starring David Frost. He went on to direct A World Apart, a daytime television drama.
