Emmy Noms for Television Academy Govs

Several Leaders Honored

North Hollywood, CA Among the many nominees for Primetime Emmys announced this morning were four members of the Television Academy’s Board of Governors.

• Alan Caso, ASC, who serves as a governor in the Academy’s Cinematographers Peer Group, received a nomination for Outstanding Cinematography For a Miniseries or Movie for his work on “Wheel To The Stars” episode of the TNT miniseries Into the West.

Other nominees in this category include Kieran McGuigan, for the PBS Masterpiece Theater production of Bleak House; James Chressanthis, ASC, for ESPN2’s Four Minutes; Steven Poster, ASC, for the HBO movie Mrs. Harris; Robert Primes, ASC, for an episode of the Showtime miniseries Sleeper Cell titled “Al-Fatiha”; and William Wages, ASC, for the “Dreams and Schemes” episode of Into the West;

• Nonfiction Programming governor Shari Cookson was nominated for Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming for the HBO movie All Aboard! Rosie’s Family Cruise.

Also vying for this award are Jon Alpert and Matthew O’Neill, directors of the HBO movie Baghdad ER; Ewa Ewart and Leslie Woodhead of HBO’s Children of Beslan; Sam Pollard for the PBS American Masters production John Ford/John Wayne: The Filmmaker and the Legend; and Martin Scorsese for the PBS American Masters production Bob Dylan: No Direction Home.

• Michael Olman, C.A.S., governor in the Sound Peer Group, and the team from the “Scatttered” episode of the Sci Fi Channel’s Battlestar Galactica garnered a nomination for Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing for a Series.

Teams from five other series will also be vying for this award, including those for the “7:00 a.m.- 8:00 a.m.” episode of the Fox drama 24; the “Finding Nimmo” episode of ABC’s Boston Legal; the “A Bullet Runs Through It” episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; the “Euphoria, Part 1” episode of Fox’s House; and the “Live Together, Die Alone (Part 2)” episode of ABC’s Lost.

• Finally, in the category of Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming Less Than One Hour), animation director/supervising director Brian Sheesley, a governor in the Animation Peer Group, was nominated for his work on the “Hello Dolly/Over Cooked Beans” installment of Cartoon Network’s Camp Lazlo.

Joining Sheesley as nominees are teams for the “PTV” episode of Fox’s Family Guy; the “Go Goo Go” episode of Cartoon network’s Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends; “The Seemingly Neverending Story” installment of Fox’s The Simpsons; and the “Trapped in the Closet” episode of Comedy Central’s South Park.

Other governors may ultimately receive nominations, pending a complete vetting of participants in all categories.

Awards in all of the above categories will be handed out at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, August 19, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The Primetime Emmys show will be telecast Sunday, August 27, also from the Shrine.
