Emmy Noms Set Goes Tech in Sleek Makeover

Production Designer John Shaffner Opts for Virtual Elegance

North Hollywood, CA Stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Garrett not only assisted Television Academy Chair Dick Askin in unveiling the 2006 Primetime Emmy nominees, the three inaugurated a brand new nominations ceremony set.

Sleek minimalism and high-tech ambiance ruled this year's change of scenery. A colossal viewing screen functioned as virtual backdrop, along with a modest one embedded in the podium.

The 58th Annual Primetime Emmy® Awards telecast is set to air Sunday, August 27, 2006, on NBC Television, live from the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium. Late-nighter Conan O'Brien will host.

The Shrine is also the site for this year's Creative Arts Emmy® Awards gala, which will take place Saturday, August 19, and air at a later date on E! Entertainment Television.  J. Bolden
