ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES TO OFFER LIVE STREAMING OF 61st PRIMETIME EMMY® AWARD NOMINATIONS THURSDAY, JULY 16 ON NEW EMMYS.COM

The Television Academy Launches First Consumer-Facing Site Providing Access to Exclusive Video and Photo Content, Favorite Stars and Emmy Moments

North Hollywood, CA, July 13, 2009 –The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has launched its first consumer-facing website, Emmys.com, and will stream the 61st Primetime Emmy® nominations live on the site at 5:40 a.m. Pacific Time, Thursday, July 16. The first component in a cross platform strategy to link television viewers with the people who make television, Emmys.com will offer a range of features including editorial, video and other content previously unavailable to the general public, as well as networking capabilities.

"From now until our Sept. 20 Primetime Emmys telecast, Emmys.com will be the premier  destination for everything Emmys,” said John Shaffner, Television Academy Chairman and CEO, “Fans will find behind-the-scenes and breaking information, show updates, unique video footage and clips from past telecasts and more.  And after the Emmys, the site will continue to evolve, becoming a valuable destination for anyone who loves television.”

From July 16 - Sept. 20, Emmys.com will be "all Emmys, all the time."  Exclusive photos from all Primetime Emmy events will be posted, including red carpet fashion galleries, interviews with nominees, past winners and key production personnel, backstage and press tent activities, as well as an insider’s view of the Academy’s glamorous Governors Ball and other celebrations.

The site also integrates social media, including feeds from Twitter (follow @primetimeemmys) and Facebook (“Primetime Emmys”) and other fan feeds.  Beginning September, links to the Television Academy Foundation’s vast interview collection at emmytvlegends.com, will be available, serving up first-hand, provocative stories about Emmy winners and the legends of the industry.

The password-free Emmys.com is a collaboration of web development company Metal Toad Media, design agency Playground Group, the content team at Emmy Magazine, Television Academy members, staff and industry professionals.  This team is also revamping the Academy’s member and press site, emmys.tv, and www.emmysfoundation.org, the website for the Television Academy's Foundation.
